About Jessica Brohmer, LMFT

Online Christian Therapy In California

You’re ready to invest in online therapy for yourself, and you want to make sure you’ve found someone you can trust. Therapy works best when you and your therapist are a good fit. It can be a long and difficult process to find just the right therapist. My hope is that you’ll learn enough about me on this page to see if I might be right for you.

Online Therapy With Me

My name is Jessica, and I became a therapist because I have been interested in exploring mental health from a Christian perspective. I saw deep mental and emotional pain in my church community, but many Christians have been highly skeptical of secular psychology practices. As a result, I saw so many good Christian people who were suffering without relief. I also saw amazing healing through prayer, scripture, and faith. Secular psychology doesn’t acknowledge church healing or the power of prayer.

I chose a degree program at Western Seminary so I could focus on learning therapy skills rooted and grounded in scripture. My professors were experienced therapists and great men and women of faith. I learned how to integrate scientific, empirically validated therapy methods with solid theology.

I’ve sought out advanced training in areas that come up most often in my office. My specialties include anxiety, burnout, trauma, and grief. I also enjoy working with other therapists. I have additional training in EMDR, Brainspotting, and ACT. These three methods can be used separately or in combination to ensure we’ve got a whole lot of different ways we can approach your needs and goals.

Honesty-Kindness-Commitment

My core values for myself and the way I do therapy are honesty, kindness, and commitment. Here’s what that means for you:

Honesty starts in the first session when we take the time to look at what’s going on for you. It takes a commitment to honesty when we look at the parts of you that you don’t like or that you want to change. Without honesty, the insights we gain from our work together aren’t going to be useful.

Kindness is the foundation of growth. So many people come into therapy with a long history of shaming and blaming themselves when things go wrong. You’ll learn new ways of relating to your regrets, bad habits, and parts of yourself you don’t like so much. When you start to relate to your whole self with kindness, you’ll feel your internal life transform.

Commitment keeps the growth process going. Therapy gets difficult. Maintaining new habits is tiring. Commitment taps into your values to help keep your vision of your new life in mind. My commitment to you also includes helping you become your best self. That includes ongoing conversations about what’s working and what isn’t so we can make the most of your time in session.
